Day 11

Lawrence of Arabia

When I was little, my mom washed my hair in the sink.  She would run her fingers down a strand of my hair and it would squeak.  "Squeaky clean! All done!"  Then she or my father would put a towel turban on my head "just like Lawrence of Arabia."

Sunset Over Surging Waters

Record Rains

Here in Massachusetts we experienced back to back record rainfall which resulted in massive flooding.  Living just outside Boston, we received less rain than many, but still lots and lots.

These are a few of the many photos I took by the Charles River on the second day post-rain:

High on the pilings

Currents

Washed Out

 Across the path and...

beyond the Bench.

 Battering the Bridge

Over the dam...

...

...

... and...

Under the bridge

Give a Hoot. Don't Pollute.

Don't we all remember this 1970's PSA and this 1986 PSA?

Then why is this the state of the Charles River after the rain?

Please, in the less famous words of Woodsy Owl, "Lend a hand.  Care for the Land."

Signs of Spring

The day after all the rain stopped here in New England, out came the sun..

Tulips emerge.

Baseball begins.

Sporty cars come out to play.

Flowers bloom.

Rose of Sharon (?)

Budding.

Safely sheltered.

Green.

Fairy Garden

6:40 P.M., overcast, no flash, no editing

When the winds of March are wakening the crocuses and crickets,
Did you ever find a fairy near some budding little thickets,...
And when she sees you creeping up to get a closer peek
She tumbles through the daffodils, a playing hide and seek.
~Marjorie Barrows
And as the seasons come and go, here's something you might like to know.  There are fairies everywhere:  under bushes, in the air, playing games just like you play, singing through their busy day.  So listen, touch, and look around - in the air and on the ground.  And if you watch all nature's things, you might just see a fairy's wing.  ~Author Unknown
